Parkinson’s Program & Limited Nursing Services

Terracina Grand has been awarded the Parkinson’s Proficient Accreditation for Exemplary Service, Programs, and Team Training by the Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland and is a “provider of choice” for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease.

Terracina also offers a bi-monthly support group meeting and monthly lunch meetings entitled “Parkinson’s 101.” The public is invited to attend these.

Through the Parkinson’s Care Series, Terracina staff can offer these proficiencies to our residents with Parkinson’s disease:

  • An understanding of the special challenges of Parkinson’s and ways to improve the resident’s quality of life
  • An understanding of diagnosis and how to help prevent further deterioration through speech therapies
  • Strategies to help residents achieve and maintain good nutrition
  • Learning the effects of the disease on the activities of daily living and strategies to help residents lead full, active and dignified lives
  • Fall prevention and safety
  • Special exercise programs
  • Knowledge of medications and dosages, surgeries, and alternative therapies

Limited Nursing Services (LNS)

Terracina Grand offers these Limited Nursing Services performed by a licensed nurse:

  • Routine dressing changes for abrasions, skin tears, closed surgical wounds
  • TED hose care
  • Care of self-maintained indwelling urinary catheter
  • Glucose monitoring
  • Urine dipstick testing
  • Oxygen assistance
  • Applying ice caps or collars or dry, moist heat
  • Caring for splints
  • Care of stage one (non-open) pressure areas
  • Colostomy care

LNS services are charged in 15 minute increments. Please contact staff for special charges for LNS services.
